is a dance artist, educator, and scholar. Her joyproject produces collaborative location-based dance performance since beginning in 2006. She was Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF) Greenhouse Artist, received a choreographic residency at the Workspace for Choreographers in Virginia, and has premiered work through various presenters in Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Seattle, Philadelphia, and San Diego; and is currently creating a new work for New Dialect in Nashville, TN. Joy has the honor of dancing in works by Erica Mott, Chris Aiken, Kathleen Hermesdorf, Jen Polins and Barbie Diewald; collaborating with Mountain Empire Dance Collective, School for Contemporary Dance and Thought, Sarah Gamblin; Jessie Jeane & Dancers. Joy began studying Countertechnique with founder Anouk van Dijk in 2005 and completed CTTT teacher’s certifications in 2012 and 2016. She teaches Countertechnique workshops at Gibney Dance (NYC), Moving Target (Boston), BodyVox (Portland), Fact/SF (CA), New Dialect (TN), Mocean Dance (Halifax, NS), Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation, and looks forward to joining the faculty at the American Dance Festival summer of 2017. Joy received an MFA in Choreography and Performance from Smith College, has since taught on faculty at Smith College and Wesleyan University; she currently teaches at Harvard University and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.


Erica Badgeley

has trained, performed, and presented work in Europe, Canada, and the USA. She has a diverse background, from ballet and gymnastics, to gaga, breakdance, and flying low. She has been a GYROTONIC® Trainer since 2010, and is a recent student of Martial Arts. After dancing as a member of the SEAD Bodhi Project, and working in Salzburg and Brussels from 2014 - 2016, Erica has a desire to integrate her athletic physical knowledge with the expanded conceptual possibilities from her experience abroad. She hopes to share and grow this exploration in her Seattle hometown and artistic birthplace.
